Begin Your Housing SearchOn-CampusThe Office of Residence Life offers summer housing in Gifford Hall. Summer housing is available beginning May 11, 2008 for a 4-week or 8-week session. To be eligible for summer housing you must be a current JMU student and enrolled in at least one summer class. To begin the process click the link below. Off-CampusIf you prefer to live off campus, we encourage you to begin your housing search today. Whether you live in the Harrisonburg area or are relocating from another area, we have online resources that can help you find living arrangements to meet your needs. The Off-Campus Life (OCL) office will be glad to assist you in your housing search. As you get started, OCL recommends the following three steps to help you obtain housing:
Step 1: Determine which living arrangement best suits your personality. Are you interested in rooming with a group of students or is living solo your first choice? Be honest with yourself about what would be an acceptable living situation while you are a student.
Step 2: Check out the OCL web site. It's packed with information about living off campus. Search for places to live and connect with JMU students who are looking for roommates!
Step 3: List at least three places in which you are interested in visiting and make an appointment with the landlord to tour his or her property. You should plan to spend a day in Harrisonburg to have ample time to tour housing/apartments. Click here to see a copy of a map of Harrisonburg. If you are looking for a roommate, in most cases the landlord will be happy to help place you with another JMU student. Please let Off Campus Life know how it can be of further assistance while you are deciding where to live off campus. We encourage you to check the OCL web site, call (540)568-6071 or visit the office on the second floor of Taylor Hall. |
