Important changes to parking restrictions and regulations for the 2011-2012 academic year:

C18 Lot:
In order to provide additional parking for commuter students, C18 Lot, located on the corner of Port Republic Road and South Main Street, has been allocated for Commuter student use only.

R8 Lot:
In order to extend the bike path from Duke Drive to Bluestone Drive, R8 Lot, the Resident lot consisting of parallel spaces on Driver Drive, has been eliminated.

R12 Lot:
In order to provide additional parking for Resident students on the North Campus R12 Lot has been expanded. The lot is accessible via Mason Street.

R14 Lot: The Walnut Lane Flats:
The University has announced apartment-style living for Resident students at The Walnut Lane Flats. The parking areas adjacent to the apartments, located at Walnut Lane and Grace Street, have been allocated for Resident students (with Commuter student overflow) and designated as R14 Lot.

Champions Drive Parking Deck:
Level 5 of the Champions Drive Parking Deck has been reopened for Commuter student parking.

Scratch-off parking permits:
The maximum number of scratch-off permits sold at one time per customer has increased to ten. Scratch-off permits are available at a cost of $4.00 per day.

The entire campus is not being shut down by gates:
On Monday, August 15, 2011, JMU will change how students, faculty, staff and community members navigate the campus. The navigational changes will support JMUís commitment to environmental sustainability by reducing the number of single occupancy vehicles on campus. These changes will also provide a safer and more pedestrian-friendly campus. In addition, we expect the public transit system will run more efficiently. For more information, including a complete description of the changes, visit www.jmu.edu/navigatejmu.

Impact of gate system on parking restrictions in quad faculty and staff lots:
In order to provide adequate parking on the quad for faculty and staff during hours when the gates are in operation, the restrictions in parking lots E, K, M, V and W have changed. Commuter and resident students may park in these lots after 8:00 PM Monday through Thursday and after 4:00 PM on Friday.

Impact of Football Season on Commuter/Resident Parking:
With the expansion of Bridgeforth Stadium for the 2011 football season, JMU Athletics is allocating additional parking lots for reserved parking on game days. In addition to lots reserved in previous seasons, R1 Lot, the Resident lot located next to the Village and Mauck Stadium, will now be a reserved game day lot. Beginning at 5:00 PM on Fridays before home football games, R1 Lot will be closed to general parking. All vehicles parked in R1 Lot must vacate the lot by 8:00 PM Friday. Vehicles remaining in R1 Lot at 6:00 AM on game day Saturday will be ticketed and towed. Parking Services recommends R12, R13 and R2 Lots as alternative parking for Residents on Friday and Saturday of game day weekends. Please visit the JMU Athletics Fan Info page at http://www.jmusports.com for more information about football parking.
