Living off campus is quite different from
living in a residence hall. Each has its
own unique benefits. OCL recommends
that all undergraduate students live on campus
for at least two years. If transferring to JMU,
students should apply for on-campus housing
as well as investigating off-campus arrangements.
Residence life information may be
obtained by viewing page 4-8.
Whether you are new to the JMU community
or not, living off campus presents new
challenges and opportunities for growth and
|
change. It is a time for taking on new responsibilities
and becoming a member of the local
community. You will find that you have more
choices and decisions to make on a day-to-day
basis, such as budgeting, paying bills, committing
to getting to class on time and remaining
involved with JMU activities. Students who
live off campus succeed when they plan ahead,
do not rush into a housing situation and
understand their responsibilities both as a
member of the local community and as a JMU
student.
