Off Campus Life strives to educate, inform and
help ease our students into the "real world." It’s not
"just moving off," it is legal and community responsibilities,
budgeting, time management and totally
different roommate situations. OCL’s mission is to
help the student understand and live up to these new
expectations. We are here for all students and staff
members, but especially advocate for our commuter
student population. Our office is a wealth of information,
managed by students as well as professional staff,
where an atmosphere is created in which all students
feel welcome and comfortable when looking for advice,
information or just a friendly ear.
Student Staff
OCL employs students as:
Graduate Students - whose duties include supervision
of the OCL Office Assistants and assisting the OCL
Coordinator in projects and educational programming.
Also works with the OCL Office Assistants to
implement APT 101 and APT 102 and provide general
training for OCL.
Additional Duties -
leading students through conflict resolution, and working with the Office
Assistants in presenting educational programs in Residence Halls, offering lease
reviews, creating publications and information distribution.
Many questions can be answered simply by
submitting questions directly to our
Coordinator at ocl@jmu.edu.
Office Assistants - our friendly student office assistants answer phones, instant messages, and e-mails, maintain the office and help students/JMU employees obtain housing information.
