HOUSING 101/GOT HOUSING?
HOUSING 101 is led by the staff of the office for Off Campus Life (OCL)
It is educational program for students solely interested in
living off campus. Got Housing is a collaborative
educational program presented by staff from both Off Campus
Life (OCL) and the Office of Residence Life (ORL).
Hall directors and Residence Assistants are encouraged to
bring food for the residents during these presentations.
This program is great for all students from freshmen looking for future housing to
seniors who are ready for the next step towards the "real world." Also, it counts as
a Personal Growth program. In the program,
the staff will:
- Present information about Off Campus Life/On Campus
Life
- Demonstrate the benefits of both on and off campus living
- Discuss the importance of finding compatible roommates
- Present available housing and price ranges
- Discuss leases and their legal commitments
- Talk about how to go about finding a place to live off campus
- Touch on issues such as security deposits, utilities, safety, meal plans, and commuting
- Facilitate a FUN evening for ALL!
What have people
like you said about HOUSING 101/GOT HOUSING?
"Very informative; I can tell my residents learned a lot." (Andrea, Ikenberry RA)
"It gives you the things that you don't really think about all in one block. Everything is overviewed and
gives a good amount to consider." (Jon, Bell RA)
"Some of [the students] did not know the information covered in this session. It is important for all of
them to know this before they move off." (Hans, Chesapeake)
"[This information was pertinent because] most are moving off" (Stephanie, Chappelear)
"You answered a lot of the questions I repeatedly get. [My residents] are more aware of all the factors
that go into living off campus. It was a relaxed and open session." (Stacy, Hoffman)
