JMU STUDENT GROUP TO ORGANIZE HUMAN AMERICAN FLAG AT STADIUM
HARRISONBURG — Members of the Student Duke Club will organize James Madison University students wearing red, white and blue shirts to form a human American flag in the stands of Bridgeforth Stadium Saturday, Sept. 22, before JMU’s football game with the University of Rhode Island.
Participants in "United We Stand" will honor and remember those who lost their lives in the tragic events of Sept. 11 by standing in formation in the stands below the press box on the west side of the stadium before the 6 p.m. game. The event is designed to support victims and their families and rescue workers in the relief effort.
The 200-member Student Duke Club also will accept monetary donations at the game that will be sent to a national relief fund.
The two-year-old club’s mission is to promote and install spirit and support for JMU athletics. All membership fees go to an endowment fund that benefits JMU varsity athletics teams by helping to provide scholarships.
