The History Department participates in the Marshall Undergraduate Scholars Program offered by the George C. Marshall Research Library in Lexington, Virginia. This program provides outstanding history students from over two dozen colleges and universities with the opportunity to undertake original research in the era of World War II and the Cold War utilizing the holdings of the Marshall Library. Scholarship recipients prepare a research paper which may be eligible for course credit, and receive an award of $250 plus up to $300 to cover research expenses. An additional award of $500 is presented to the author of the paper judged to be the best each year. Applications to be considered for a Marshall Scholarship are available from Dr. Guerrier (guerriersw@jmu.edu) and from the Marshall Foundation web site at www.marshallfoundation.org.
