Res Hall or Apartment?
JMU Housing 2010-2011This is the time of year that students begin to make their housing plans for next year and we are here to help. The Office of Residence Life (ORL) and Off Campus Life (OCL) would like to let you know about housing options for the 10-11 academic year.
On-Campus
If you are a new freshman and you have already signed your 2nd year housing contract for 2010-11 you do not need to do anything at this time. You will receive Room Selection information in late January 2010 which will provide details about how you can select your room and roommate for next year.If you did not complete a 2nd year contract (it is now too late to exercise this option) or if you are not a freshman resident, you must apply for housing for next year before you can be offered a contract. The application for 2010-11 housing will go live on OCTOBER 5th at 10pm. You must login at https://rms.jmu.edu with your JMU eID and password and follow the instructions for completing the application. Completing an application does NOT guarantee you a space on campus next year nor does it obligate you to live on-campus. This is only the application step of the process. Shortly after the 5th we will begin offering contracts to those students who have completed an application. Because on-campus space for continuing students is limited, not everyone who completes an application may be offered a contract. Contract offers will be made via e-mail to your JMU e-mail account and will be made in the order in which we received your housing application. Acceptance of the contract offer guarantees you a place on-campus next year and is considered a binding agreement. If you accept the contract you will not be able to cancel it at a later date should you change your mind about living on-campus and you will be responsible for the full amount of room and board next year.
The room selection time line is here.
Off-Campus
The Off-Campus Housing Fair is Thursday, September 24th at 11am in the Festival. All of the off-campus property managers will be represented. Please stop by to learn more about all of the options available to you off-campus.
