Whether your son or daughter is interested in joining a fraternity or sorority, is pledging or initiated into one of our great chapters, we welcome the opportunity to let you know about our office, organizations and answer any questions you might have.History
James Madison University has a rich history with Greek organizations. Although, we are a relatively young institution our campus has a strong Greek system rich with tradition and strong fraternities and sororities. Currently, there are 23 chapters on campus with chapters ranging from approximately 30 to 120 members. (See History for more information) We are proud of our organizations and ensure that your child's experience will be one of the most memorable times of their college experiences.
Benefits of Joining a Social Fraternity
Besides being included in a large international network of peers, alumni and individuals around the world, your son or daughter will also be exposed to opportunities to take advantage of leadership development programs, career mentoring, scholarship development programs as well as other aspects of the social organizations on campus.
Being in a Greek Organization is NOT an "Animal House"
Your student's safety is of the utmost importance to us. James Madison University has a zero tolerance Hazing Policy and actively educates all members and new members on the dangers of hazing.
Our organizations are values based organizations that strive to achieve the highest personal, and organizational development as outlined in our Four Pillars Plan. Each organization is also advised by our staff to help each organization as needed.
